While global players are entering the market, the heart of India's EV story is beating with domestic strength. Homegrown companies like Tata Motors (in cars), Ola Electric (in scooters), and Mahindra & Mahindra are establishing themselves as market leaders and innovators. Their deep understanding of local consumer needs, price sensitivity, and road conditions gives them a distinct advantage.

Beyond vehicle assembly, India is focusing on developing a local supply chain, particularly for the most critical and expensive component: the battery. The government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) battery storage is a strategic move to attract investments in giga-factories and reduce dependence on imports.
